The Lost Property station is typically overflowing with items: mostly things left behind on the trains that pass through, but some that slip through the cracks elsewhere. Visitors are encouraged to reclaim their missing belongings - or claim something new if a certain amount of time has passed by.  Lost and mislaid magical items are quite another matter, however: they tend to be far too dangerous to leave lying around without supervision. The sector for Lost Magical Property is tucked away at the far end of the station. This is the place you have been assigned to manage.
