The game was built on top off an engine from Karta Systems called Card Game Engine (CGX), which is a system for building and playing tabletop roleplaying games with card-based mechanics, using cards like those found in poker or tarot decks to represent different abilities. It is designed so that players can play the entire game without needing any of their own set up: they start out as newbies who haven't played before (or even read a lot about Carta systems), and get access to all sorts of cards, items, people...and places within the system's world for free. The story starts with an opening crawl by "The Author" that sets you off on your adventure through life - in this case specifically as newbies who find themselves at school waiting tables (or whatever). At every step throughout their career they get to choose one of six different types of cards, which have unique abilities like magic or being able to talk the pants outta birds. Players can also earn and use items from a "bag" that contains various things - including rare playing pieces! The more you play with it...and find those special parts too..the better your score at its endgame is worth for all of their hard work in getting to level five,
