In a village called Wanderhold that has been under protection from an ancient forest spirit named Cianna for as long it's existed (which is forever), the town decides to make either five percent of their harvest or one human sacrifice annually in exchange. However, there are those who do not believe monsters lurk within and oppose this arrangement due to fear they may exist; therefore when entire fields go blight late during growing season causing livestock slaughtering as well at night villages start disappearing without a trace until it's up for the hunters of what is happening before their towns have nothing left. The Corrupt Harvest Mystery involves corruption, human sacrifice, implied past abusive relationships and mind control with mutated animals to stop them from killing crops in exchange for protection by Cianna-a Monster of Week who demands either five percent or one person annually sacrificed so they keep the land fertile as well keeping it safe from monsters during a year.
