A seconda della Fase di gioco, il giocatore potrà formare un pool di dadi diverso (Pilota, Componente o Super Robot) aggiungendo un dado per ogni capacità ancora disponibile che il giocatore riesce a mettere in gioco. TATAKAE! Il sistema di gioco di GATTAI! usa dei pool di dadi a 6 facce (d6) per decidere se le azioni dei Piloti avranno successo o meno. Gattai! è un gioco di ruolo ispirato ai cartoni giapponesi di Super Robot Componibili degli anni ‘70 e ‘80, come Getter Robot, Voltron, Vultus V, Ginguiser o Zambot 3.
