Commedia relies on stock comedic archetypes (the aged miser, the cowardly soldier, the clever maid, the swooning lovers, the pontificating scholar, the agile but stupid clown, and so on) in lieu of developed characters with realistic goals, and focuses on stock bits of semi-improvised physical and verbal comedy to keep the action moving. The Penguin Harlequinade is a fast-paced one-shot RPG based on the Italian masked theatre tradition Commedia dell'arte. This is a chaotic game about very stupid people coming up with needlessly elaborate plans to accomplish relatively minor goals.
