Title Page (Ruling Class): Richelieu is an 18xx game where you play as secret agents working for King Louis XIII of France to overthrow him. The story follows the richly-detailed and beautifully written, realistic world building that can be seen in many other games within its genre; from a battle between your team's swordsmen against guards using longswords or halberds on an ancient battlefield with various terrain features such as cliffs (enemies will fall off if they don't jump high enough), to the ballroom dances of different factions competing for power and prestige. The game also provides ample opportunities to develop relationships, form alliances, make use of connections, play political games using real-world historical figures like Cardinal Richelieu or even have personal conversations with them in a way that makes one's decisions come alive (as long as the dialogue options are not too limiting). It is an immersive and enjoyable game for both casual players looking to simply relax at home on their own time, but also those who enjoy engaging storylines filled by diverse characters.
