If you are not happy about your Defense class or Initiative, you can turn the tables and reverse them as an action.  Armor Class is replaced by a Defense Class based on the character's Hit die type, because swashbuckling characters rarely wear heavy armor or armor at all. Dueling, moustache-twirling, swinging on chandeliers! Pirates & Musketeers! My aim was to provide slightly more nuanced swashbuckling actions, without slowing down combat too much.
