The Monsters' Time Is Over But Some Still Remain; A Game About Colonial Agriculture and
Postcolonial RevolutionGathering Storm is a self-contained game system that allows players to add
elements onto maps while imagining postcoloniaal sci-fi worlds through card decks of characters,
secrets from hidden histories like colonial food production with insects using DDT causing
ecological destruction. The story follows the aftermath of colonialism in Kenya and how pineapple
played an important role as part of a British scheme to create indigenous land owners for authority
consolidation within agriculture but failed due to rebellion that disrupted their control over
native lands which were later repopulated by natives, eventually leading up to what is now
considered global climate change. The game has been developed through partnership with Delfina
Foundation's fifth season and Gaia Art Foundation as part of Politics of Food series in
collaboration between Avery Alder McDonal and Tyler Crumrine from the University at Buffalo who
helped develop OrbiTal, Jack Harrision for Orbit, Ursula K. Le Guin, Mark Diaz Truman with Beak,
Feather & Bone by TyLee Croume and The Deep Forest as part of an art series curated together by
Octavia Butler and Avery AldeR McDonal at the Gaai Art Foundation in
