The Battle of Kanlişirt (Bloody Ridge) was a fierce conflict between Greek and Turkish soldiers
during the 2nd Inönu/Avgín-Koovališta campaign in Asia Minor on March 22–30, 1921. The steep hill at
right flank held by elements from 10th Regiment led to multiple changes of sides throughout the
battle involving around ten thousand men total with a ratio between Greek and Turkish soldiers that
was roughly 1:2 respectively (around 1950 Greeks). During this 6-day struggle against stiff
counterattacks which rendered five commanding officers casualties, they were eventually dislodged.
