In Case Closed, players take on roles as detectives investigating cold cases from different perspectives such as hired investigators and journalists looking for leads. The objective of the player's role involves solving puzzles by eliminating suspects until only one is left to reveal who killed someone years ago without evidence in their possession except case files. There are multiple ways a murder can be solved, including finding new witnesses or collecting letters that might have been lost long before as well-hidden clues pointing towards potential culprits. The game emphasizes creativity and teamwork while still maintaining its traditional deduction elements with different outcomes determined by dice rolls on various tasks such as gathering information from family members of the victim/suspect's relatives, interviewing suspects in jail or their homes without being a detective (to prevent people getting suspicious), identifying body language signals to help figure out what killer did during the crime and more.
