It is low-peril (the fact that you're telling the story implies you survived! ) with the excitement coming from how epic or embarrassing your deeds actually were. The "Text-only" file is a formatted text file only. The game is intended for one or more Adventurers (3 to 5 is probably best) and a Tavern Keeper, whose role is similar to a Dungeon Master or Game Master, in that they guide the Adventurers through the game, but is different because they are also playing a character, listening to the Adventurers telling the epic story of their incredible deeds.
