A Promise Made Is a Debt Unpaid is an immersive role-playing card game designed by Jason Morningstar, and it's about cowboys with big hearts who follow the law of their word even if they find themselves in unexpected situations like murder or kidnapping cases. The characters have unique roles to play throughout different scenarios ranging from gunfights on horseback at a saloon bar to escaping prisoners behind bars that require them to use both physical and mental abilities, as well as deal with personal demons such as chronic illness, drug abuse, violence, horror, death of loved ones or even an innocent victim. The game includes questions for players who can answer about the characters' backgrounds before getting started playing it together in groups to create their own stories by using a deck containing different cards that represent various situations and events with unique effects on gameplay such as randomness, consequences like arrests due to witnesses leaving town or even death from bullets. It's an immersive experience where participants are challenged not only physically but also mentally while being exposed to the darkest elements of humanity in order for them to play their part correctly within cowboys' world and make a difference by choosing paths they deem right before finally achieving peace with themselves, family members and loved ones like never again having to deal with those situations.
