As Brit Marling recently shared in an interview, the concept of the hero's journey is rooted in mythologizing men (though it has been adapted to "strong female leads") through a magical journey of heroism. Journey Back is a truly solo journaling RPG that turns the hero's journey on its head. Through Journey Back, you play an adventurer (as like or different from you as you please) who doesn't need the magical call and doesn't need to become the hero, because they're already the hero and they're already magical.
