Description
Welcome to the afterlife. We’re pleased that you’ve chosen to spend it with us. This manual will tell you everything you need to know about existing beyond life.
It is common for the newly dead to dislike the people who have since moved into their homes and haunts. It is up to you–the fresh body–to evict the new residents, your living cohabitants.
A few important notes:
- Do not allow this manual to fall into the hands of the living. We cannot provide definitive proof of existence after death.
- For the first 125 years of your deathly existence, you are granted three appointment vouchers with your Case Worker. Please use them wisely. Appointments can be made to ask questions of your Case Worker or to practice using your manifestation abilities in the haunt simulator. Frivolous appointments still require a voucher. Vouchers cannot be refunded. If there is an emergency, draw a door and knock three times. This will provide you with an entrance to the waiting room.
- Killing the living is strictly against the rules. Punishment will be swift and merciless.
- Violating the rules will result in being locked in the haunt simulator in a difficult scenario that will teach you a better way of working through your actions. In extreme cases, the scenario will be impossible to resolve.
Now, please step into the haunt simulator for orientation.
Manual for the Dead is a 3D6D tabletop roleplaying game inspired by the movie Beetlejuice and the game Five Second Rule. In it, you play a small group of newly dead spirits, attempting to drive out the new residents of your haunt. To play, you need a Case Worker, a few friends, and several six-sided dice.
You will learn about the afterlife and your abilities as you go. You cannot count on anything you may have learned in previous incarnations, because the afterlife is different for each manifestation.
Every death is personal and every afterlife is unique.
