The game is designed as a collaboration-driven storytelling tool set in the Pokémon universe that can be played solo or with up to four players using token mechanics similar to No Dice and No Masters games where you create characters from different regions, towns, locales, trainers, Pokemon creatures, etc. The stories are single session short story arcs combined into long dramatic campaigns as any type of character in the Pokémon universe that can be played together with various aspects like Region (a specific geographic area), Town or Locale (an established population within a region), Trainer(s) who provide characters for you to use, and Pokemon creatures from your imagination. The game is free-to-play without any intention of making profit off it but encourages players to join the official discord server where they can share stories about their experiences playing Pokémon Tales together with other fans sharing ideas on upcoming content being worked upon by community members in collaboration as a creative team building process for all involved.
