The Chrysalis
The Chrysalis, also known as "Mechs," are war instruments in Beam Sabre's playbook that serve the role of pilots on battlefield missions but do so without engaging directly or fully immersing themselves within a combat scenario like their human counterparts would typically be required to. Players play Mech characters with unique roles and abilities such as specialist gear, weapons proficiency movesets for movement mechanics exclusive to each chassis model, an increased awareness when looking at the squad leader's camera in tandem mode (as opposed to only during missions), new playbook actions/interactions that focus on how you can interact directly between your pilot character(s) with other characters through game-play interactions and more. The book offers a wealth of information for those who want an immersive experience within the roleplaying world created by this warbook, but also serves as inspiration to create Mech pilots in their own campaigns or adventures that may not be purely focused on Beam Saber combat systems (such as Cyberpunk 2077). Additionally, players can now use these unique and diverse "Mechs" interchangeably with other characters during missions like the Chrysalis.  The book focuses specifically on building a custom version of this War Instrument using all new character creation rules in addition to creating Mech pilots for personal campaigns
