Rügsæk is an adventure game for 2-5 players set in a fantasy world inspired by the olden days of tabletop roleplaying games (TRPG). The goal of each player's character and task to investigate strange occurrences that occur around them, such as unexplained deaths or mysterious creatures. Each turn presents one challenge with unique rules based on variable difficulty dice system using HPs instead of numbers for hit points like in D&D 5th edition. Players must use the skills they have available determined by their backgrounds (such a warrior background being better at melee combat). The game is designed to be hackable, so players can customize and create new characters with different abilities as well as add-ons or expansions that enhance gameplay elements such as solo play section in back of PDF.
