a star in a machine is a gmless rpg about the ways that capitalism and industrialization shape our society.  it was written for the gaming like it's 1923 game jam, inspired by the book the prospects of industrial civilization by bertrand russell and dora black and the poem "a star in a stone-boat" by robert frost, both published in 1923.  you'll need a standard deck of cards.
