This story begins with protagonist John (Homo sapiens) working at his job in an office building when suddenly he gets into contact via phone call to work supervisor David. They discuss about how they're going through changes due to a worldwide disaster that's happening, where humans are forced from their cities and have no choice but to find shelter or fight for survival by themselves until the rescue team arrives; people who live on isolated islands in New Zealand with limited resources get evacuated because of rising waters caused by global warming.
