Radioactive Mares is a science-fiction story about regrowing lost ecosystems that have been
destroyed or contaminated due to man's destructive actions on the environment and our planet Earth
where people live as mermaids who need radiation in order to survive, feed off it for power while
also absorbing their surroundings. It follows five thousand years after humanity went into decline
with a warning of environmental destruction leading up to its current state (2020) that occurred due
to an unknown event or threat on the horizon which is still mysterious and never-ending even now
with 553 more added in 2021, as life clings desperately around oceans where radiation remains toxic.
The plot centers primarily around five species: radioactive mermaids who must regrow their
environment; a group of humans/merfolk that live off ocean currents without ever leaving it (except
for those seeking adventure or finding new places to explore); an underwater community made up
mostly of sea creatures, but with some exceptions such as marine life living on the edges and in
caves. The last two species are not fully described other than being important characters who play
key roles during the story's climactic events.
