The Murkborn are humans who died with an afterlife purpose after being resurrected by the "Roots that pass beneath" in Tithe's dead metropolises, City Gate and Capital Metropolis (hence named), from a new setting called The Gloaming Diaries. They come to life on their own accord or are given commands when they have fulfilled an afterlife purpose for others who will be resurrected by the same method later in time due to "the cycle of rebirth". The supplement also provides rules, NPCs and descriptions that focus heavily upon death magic (called "Death"), living creatures' emotions/memories about past lives, human-like animals, new forms such as a medium's soul being attached onto their body or an ephemeral possessing the ability to bring them back from the dead. The supplement also introduces 2 more Paths of Death and adds several Faes related tales including two additional Tales: "Tale Of Damnation" that is shared by murkborn, new perks/fighting styles for those involved in such scenarios as well as some NPCs with unusual powers or characteristics to interact between them (such as a mysterious NPC who can control the souls of dead bodies).
