Shattered Aether is a tabletop roleplaying game set in an alternate universe where people have discovered magic and use it to travel between dimensions, control portals known as rift-spheregates that lead into other worlds or realms, summon powerful weapons from the fabric of spacetime using magical objects called plasmoids, and wield energy powers. The player characters are members of a community governed by overseers who train warriors for defense against dangerous creatures roaming around their territory in preindustrial settlements while also dealing with portals opening up between dimensions that grant access to these realms beyond our world's boundaries but could weaken the fabric or even cause destruction if not used properly, such as weapons and plasmoids.
