Hextingide is an ongoing tabletop role-playing game project that combines elements of pulp fiction,
modern comics and mythology into a lightweight ruleset for monster heroes in 8x5 inch zine format
using open descriptions as points to buy characters with hyperfocused narrative mechanics. The focus
on the player's powers (Powers), vulnerabilities/threats from monsters or opponents (Portents) tie
them back to humanity while allowing players maximum flexibility and choice throughout their
adventure paths, making hard choices for riskier actions that empower them overall in society-
threatening situations as well as recognize connections with otherworldly beings such as gods. The
game also features a pseudo-elemental system based on the traditional Greek humour elements of blood
(Phlegm), Ichor/Black Bilge and Rot which offers basis to further worldbuilding, along with minmal
built-in systems for creating settings within time periods like 1920s pulp fiction or modern urban
fantasy genres.
