Sun Patrols are ranger groups that help maintain Sun-Lighted Gardens (SLSG), which sustain the agriculture and food production of scattered communities around Earth in order to survive after global warming destabilized humanity for a while, causing widespread famine, death toll disasters. The rangers operate under an odd company called the Sun Patrol---a name chosen by worker associations who pledged their efforts towards maintaining sun-lighted gardens as well as keeping communications between the dispersed remnants of human civilization in one piece and improving infrastructure on this continent (i.e., roads).
