Once upon a time I had a collection of interesting and quirky word- or phrase-prompts.  And then I carried them around for three years doing nothing with them. It was time to do something with them  :D Would you like some critters?  How about some (hopefully inspirational!) short descriptions for NPCs? Wandering Wayfarers has 60 of both -- the critters are in a rules-light oldschool style, so basically Lindwyrm, but anything with ascending AC will do (and you can convert). The folks are short descriptions with no system attached.  0-level (or equivalent), or you could assign classes or even slap an NPC description on one of the more humanoid critter entries -- there's a fair number of them!  *lol*
