The player takes on the role of a character living their life with no real purpose. They discover that they are not alone, but rather face an extra-planar entity who possesses humanlike features and appears to be stalking them for unknown reasons. To overcome this obstacle, players must navigate different levels within the space station's maze system while collecting clues from other sources such as radio broadcasts or notes left by previous inhabitants of Hope Harbor. They also have the option at any time during their journey through the game to communicate with a mysterious stranger who may offer them assistance in finding and defeating the entity threatening humanity on Earth-side 2.
