A player takes on the role of an experienced Grey Warden who has dedicated their life to fighting darkspawn, evil monsters that arise from underground tunnels in order to cause destruction across nations. To prepare themselves further and avoid becoming a monster like all other Wardens do at some point, they must head below ground where many dangerous creatures are found to fight them off for good reasons related to an honorable ending or regretful past events leading up their transformation into the undead monsters responsible for terrorizing entire cities in this world. Players will control Grey Warden character movement and actions via a simple mechanic using directional buttons on either side of the gamepad, while combat is handled by pressing different attack combinations with X button inputs that determine which weapon they currently wield (e.g., sword or bow). The player can choose to focus their attacks onto specific enemies for more damage in certain situations as needed within this fast-paced and action-oriented RPG experience where death comes quickly through the use of a combination system involving different weapons, spells, and unique abilities developed by each character with specializations ranging from ranged sniper fire to close combat melee.
