Close Encounter with Cosmic Disaster is an experimental boardgame in which players take on various roles to navigate through the unknown territories of space, encountering danger at every turn while trying to avoid catastrophic events like black holes and asteroids that threaten them. Players use a deck filled with randomly generated cards for pre-written scenarios or create their own stories during game play by making decisions together as they progress from one region in known space towards another where new opportunities arise based on the actions of other players, such as encountering rival factions seeking to gain control over valuable resources and secrets hidden throughout unknown regions. The final destination is a planet that can be colonized with various unique card designs for expansion or resource gathering depending upon how they are played during game play in collaboration amongst all participating members playing simultaneously across multiple time zones within an online server, utilizing internet connectivity via LANs to link up their consoles/PCs and connect through the website.
