When The Broadsword's Sting (WBS) game was first released in 2014, it quickly gained popularity
among fans of OSR micro-RPGs like Knave and Barbarians of Lemuria due to its sword-and-soil theme.
WBS is a 6 page RPG set on three sheets that offers simple classless character creation with
background career systems as the basis for skill system enhancements or player choice effects, along
with 1d20+Attributive Rating +Applicable Career Bonuses and NOB (Not Of Battle) Magic Systems
optional rules to use classic spell lists. The game includes conflict rules supporting Physical,
Social, Mental Conflicts in addition to a variety of feats driven by Stunts/Stunt Cards for player
input on skills or actions they want their character to perform during gameplay like exploring
dungeons with gold-for-XP advancement and weapon upgrades that can improve damage output against
enemies through the use of magical artifacts. The game has built-in Dungeon Exploration rules, Gold
For XP advancements (which are earned by defeating monsters in random encounters), and Weapon
Upgrades which represent permanent improvements made to weapons using magic or other means during
character creation play sessions but also make them more effective at combat after reaching certain
milestones like the player's level increases.
