The game is set on an interstellar station where players take different roles as residents and visitors to a neutral space zone filled with trade activity (Diplomats), business deals among companies in the Al-Sooq district of Known Space, alien species roaming free within their own territories or searching for new ones that could help them achieve greater goals like establishing colonies across various planets. The game is designed as one-shots and episodic play format to provide players with critical information on a single page while playing through stations without the need for any physical components aside from polyhedral dice, coins/tokens and station tokens (to create an interstellar mini world). Players can choose their characters' backgrounds such like being inspired by Sci-Fi shows of 1990s. Lagash Project is intended to be played in a neutral space zone filled with trade activity but not necessarily for combat encounters or missions; instead they focus on diplomatic, business deals among companies and wandering alien species across various planets within the galaxy's Known Space regions where players navigate through different stations that offer their own unique perspectives while dealing with common conflicts like resource shortages.
