The World of Black Sands in Fallout 4 takes place on Mars where humans have found themselves stranded after a war that destroyed their civilization left them with no choice but to survive outside the dome they built for shelter from radiation and other dangers present. However, this new world is not without its challenges; sandstorms blow strong enough to bury anything alive if caught unprepared in it or raiders who roam around scavenging on any resources available. Players must use their wits as well as combat skills - guns aren't always the best option for survival purposes and a knife can be found lying about, while they might also look into trading with other factions within Mars' economy to survive better but this comes at an additional risk of being targeted by raiders too who are already looking outwards.
