MASHED is based on and inspired by Vincent Baker's innovative game engine Apocalypse World, which has been used in other games like Night Witches, Bladez In the Dark, The Warren to create a rich story-driven narrative with many possible outcomes for each event. It includes seven Rolebooks that represent different personnel types of soldiers during wartime and eight character roles based on personalities affected by war experiences; both can be customized throughout gameplay while maintaining consistency in their respective playboks. There are also 80+ events, ranging from surgical procedures to artillery strikes as well as personal relationships with other players for a more dynamic game experience that provides an emotional journey through the Korean War era's conflicts and effects on characters' personalities during war-time scenarios involving medical interventions performed by soldiers serving in MASHED units such as 709th. It includes historical inspiration from nonfiction books, interviews, journals to give authenticity while maintaining fictionality with its own fictional storyline inspired solely for entertainment purposes without any official affiliation or relation towards M*A*S*H media franchise owned and controlled by 20th Century Fox Film Corporation.
