"The Sea Within" tells a story of an 18th-century woman's downward spiral after experiencing family
shame for marrying the wrong person as well as physical isolation in her late life due to mental
health issues that lead up to self harm caused by suicidal thoughts and feelings. The protagonist
faces real world problems, yet has flashbacks/nightmares about them during which she is transported
back into a state of loneliness leading towards suicide attempts where family members are shown
trying their best at finding the lost soul who was once her beloved aunt but ultimately cannot bring
themselves to do so even as time passes by and they know it's futile. This story also deals with
themes such as social isolation, mental health issues (especially depression) that lead up to self
harm caused by suicidal thoughts/feelings; reality vs imagination, family abuse which leads the
protagonist towards extreme measures of suicide attempts leading into a state where she feels like
no one can save her and even if someone did try they would fail in doing so. The story touches on
