The Assassin is an action-adventure stealth video game where the player controls protagonist Edward Kenway as he navigates through various locations throughout Europe in search of his missing family members during World War I, all while evading enemy soldiers and assassins hired by a shadowy organization. The story follows flashbacks to when the character was young but still has memories from before going into action-adventure mode where they must kill enemies without being detected or get captured for information on their true identity as an assassin working under this organization's name (a twist that differs each game).
