THE YEAR IS 1890. YOU are a Spiritualist Medium; you speak with the spirits of the dead to provide insight, solace and closure to their loved ones that remain on earth. Your tools are myriad and occult, your record is impeccable, and you are a charlatan in it for the money you make from tricking wealthy sad people out of their dead relatives’ cash. Your job tonight is to defraud a dowager out of a portion of her inheritance by pretending to summon the ghost of her husband. Two problems: firstly, your trunk full of equipment has been lost in transit, so you’ll have to improvise. Secondly, there’s a real ghost in the house and it’s going to kill you.
