The Space Between Us [ ] (abbrvated as ) is a role-playing video game that features 3-6 players from different stories and worlds teaming up against evil forces called Darkness. Players choose one of nine playbook options, each based on character archetypes like the Hero or HermiT detective, which give them ultimate control over their home world's details while encouraging nonviolent solutions to puzzles in order to build emotional connections with NPCs (non-playable characters) and other players around town.[ ] The game takes inspiration from crossover fanfiction as well as published games such Kingdom Hearts III and Super Smash Bros Brawl. It utilizes the Powered by Apocalypse engine that is similar to those titles' mechanics, including a "roll" system for player actions called Breatheying instead of dice rolls like in RPGs.
